Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Mortlake Removals in respect of the financial year ending 31 December. It sets out the actions we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Mortlake Removals is committed to conducting business ethically, transparently, and in full recognition of the dignity and rights of all individuals.

Our Business and Supply Chains

Mortlake Removals provides residential and commercial removal, packing, and storage services. Our operations rely on a network of suppliers and service providers, including vehicle hire and maintenance, packaging materials, storage facilities, temporary labour providers, and facilities management. We recognise that modern slavery risks can arise at any point in these supply chains, particularly where third parties use low-skilled, temporary, or migrant labour or operate in sectors or regions with weaker labour protections.

Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery

Mortlake Removals has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour. We will not knowingly engage with, support, or benefit from any organisation or individual involved in such practices. This commitment is reflected in our internal policies and the expectations we place on our suppliers, contractors, and business partners.

All employees, including temporary and agency staff working under our direction, are expected to uphold our zero-tolerance stance. Any deviation from this standard is treated as a serious breach of company policy and may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or contract.

Supplier Standards and Audits

Mortlake Removals requires suppliers and contractors to comply with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights legislation. We communicate our commitment to combating modern slavery as part of our onboarding and contractual processes, and we expect our partners to implement similar standards within their own operations and supply chains.

We are enhancing our supplier due diligence by introducing proportionate risk-based checks. Higher-risk suppliers, such as those providing low-skilled labour or operating in sectors known for elevated modern slavery risks, may be subject to additional scrutiny. This can include verification of right-to-work documentation carried out by the supplier, confirmation of wage and working hour practices, and review of health and safety measures.

We reserve the right to carry out audits and site visits where appropriate, either directly or through appointed third parties. Where non-compliance or potential indicators of modern slavery are identified, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within specified timeframes. If issues are not resolved promptly and satisfactorily, Mortlake Removals may suspend or terminate the business relationship.

Reporting Channels and Protection

Mortlake Removals encourages all employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers to report any concerns or suspicions relating to modern slavery or human trafficking in our business or supply chains. Concerns can be raised to line managers, senior management, or via existing internal reporting routes made available to staff and trusted partners.

We are committed to ensuring that no one who raises a concern in good faith suffers any form of retaliation or disadvantage. Reports will be taken seriously, handled sensitively, and treated confidentially to the fullest extent possible. Where credible concerns are raised, Mortlake Removals will investigate promptly and, where appropriate, involve external authorities or specialist advisers.

Training and Awareness

To support the implementation of this statement, Mortlake Removals is developing guidance for relevant employees, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, and supplier management. Training and awareness activities will focus on recognising warning signs of modern slavery, understanding reporting routes, and embedding our zero-tolerance approach in everyday decision making.

Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review

Responsibility for overseeing this Modern Slavery Statement and our associated actions rests with the companys senior management. Progress will be monitored through regular review of supplier performance, incident reports, and feedback from staff and partners. Lessons learned from any investigations or audits will be used to strengthen our controls and procedures.

This statement will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains accurate, effective, and proportionate to the nature and scale of our operations. Where necessary, it will be updated to reflect changes in legislation, best practice, and our business activities. Mortlake Removals is committed to continuous improvement and to working collaboratively with employees, suppliers, and other stakeholders to help eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking in all its forms.

This statement has been approved by the leadership of Mortlake Removals and is signed on their behalf.
